This diary is being posted both to give a little history and as a rant on some of the bottom feeding ass hats who have taken advantage of recent tragedies to whine about Obama taking their guns away. I'll start below.

I've had my own experience with guns. Sure, it was just shooting at some water jugs, but I was shooting live ammo all the same. Since I have no depth perception, though, I mostly shot the air.

Before I go any further, I have nothing against responsible gun ownership, and I'm aware that most gun owners are responsible adults, so what follows is not directed toward them.

With the advent of two tragic school shootings taking place in Connecticut and Florida, I can't help but question the state of society as a whole. Parents can't raise their kids the way they want to because we live in a country where the wealthy CEOs and Business Owners are too god damned stingy to pay a decent living wage.

Think about it, how in the ever loving fuck can people be vigilant about this shit if we're forced to work 2, 3 or even 4 jobs just to scrape by? We don't just need to have a conversation about Gun Control. No. Everything, from income inequality, to mental and physical health,  to said gun control needs to be on the table in the discussion.

The symptoms won't go away until the root causes are addressed.

I don't know about you, but I think it's well past time we had another Constitutional Convention. As a matter of fact, I think we ought to Amend it so that we have one every twenty years. I know such a thing would have a lot of kinks that would need to be hammered out, but I honestly think we would do well to address this.

And to those know-nothing, do-nothing, say-nothing-constructive right wing reactionaries who are saying that the President is going to take your guns away: SHUT. THE. FUCK. UP. We do not need your yelling, screaming, whining or bitching now, or ever. If you don't want to participate in the system, that is your choice, but don't you dare try to bring everyone else down with you. You are the same people who were cheering Dubya on as he was robbing us blind and lying us into wars nobody wanted. You are the same people who would sell your family if money were involved.

You see, it's not freedom these know-nothing, do-nothing foil hat wearing fuckwits give a god damn about. At least, not unless it's the freedom to take someone else's rights away. Meanwhile, the people spewing this shit over the airwaves, like Alex Jones, Glenn Beck, Brian Fischer and a whole plethora of others continue to make money off of tragedies like this. They just want to bring us down with them, and personally speaking, I've had enough.

See ya around,

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
