I had just got done looking through the pictures of the babies that were murdered in CT this morning when I checked facebook to find this on my feed.

Need a good chuckle? Turn on CNN and listen to these liberal pussies talk about gun control and how crazy the NRA is. That is all.

I could not hold back as I usually do. This was posted by my husband's 25 year old nephew, a member of the military and someone who grew up in the deep south.
I had to respond although I tried to keep it together and coherant.
Linda XXXXXX Adam, I don't think 20 children and 6 adults being killed is anything to 'chuckle' about. If Leah was in that school, that classroom you wouldn't think it was funny. Yes your aunt is a liberal. No sane human needs the weaponry his mother possessed for self protection. NO ONE.

His rightwing crazy father had to chime in (my brother-in-law, the one that raised this boy)
JXXXXXXX It's time for liberals to remove their rose colored glasses and see the world for what it truly is. A place where some number of people will commit horrible acts against humanity and their weapon of choice will be whatever manner of item available to them. Had the principal been armed, she would have certainly had an opportunity to stop the shooter. Not being armed with a weapon left her armed with her words, and her body, to stop the shooter. How did that work out? Linda? Stop blaming the weapon and blame the sickness of the person committing the crime. It must be very difficult for liberals to accept their responsibility for replacing a society grounded in personal responsibility, accountability and community with that based on rainbows and unicorns. The principal gave her life in a frantic effort to save the children in her care. I would prefer she had taken the shooter out.

Linda XXXXXX JXXXXX, The mother was his first victim and she was the owner of the guns. How did that help her???? I am not going to get into a pissing war with you. I have my opinion and you yours.

JXXXXXXXX Your view is why we suffer massive casualties. The mother who owned the guns is partially responsible for making them accessible to an unstable person. The principal not being able to defend her students is an entirely separate issue. The blood of the mother was partially her own responsibility. The blood of the students is on Liberals who prevent their defense.

Linda XXXXX by the time the principal figured out what was going on, she would not have had time to pull it out and fire. What are we all supposed to be, quick draw mcgraw police officers with our guns at the ready? Seriously, and with that I will let you have the last word since you know exactly how everything should work.

JXXXXXXX Good for you Christine! One should never feel guilty over choosing innocent lives over that of a murderer.

JXXXXXXX The question really is. How many people can really just shoot someone in the face. I feel like a lot of people say they can but it is the feeling of protection that comes with owning a weapon that is important to the people that want them. Plus hitler took the Jewish populations guns away before he killed them all....So....ponder that ......

JXXXXXXXX Being able to shoot someone in the face to save your life. It's more about having the opportunity to try.

JXXXXXXXX The principal in Newtown, and the other 25 innocent people who were murdered, would have been well served by having the opportunity to try.

JXXXXXXX I don't understand the question. My point, restated another way, is that a madman with guns entered a gun free facility and begun shooting. The victims had no opportunity to even try to shoot the madman and save their own lives. The murderer went unopposed. Had one of the adults in the school been trained to handle such a situation, and had a concealed weapon to use, they would have at least had a fighting chance to save lives.

Others chimed in as well, and as crazy as the relatives.
I just don't know how we are ever going to have a reasonable discussion and action on gun control when people like this live in the United States.
I should know better than to engage 'this side' of the family into any reasonable discussion but I just couldn't let the original post pass without a reply.
