Yes, that is what should have happened at Sandy Hook according to someone named Charlotte Allen in a column published this morning in National Review.
There was not a single adult male on the school premises when the shooting occurred. [uninformed blather omitted] ... There didn’t even seem to be a male janitor to heave his bucket at Adam Lanza’s knees. Women and small children are sitting ducks for mass-murderers. [Sanctimonious patronizing omitted] But in general a feminized setting is a setting in which helpless passivity is the norm.
Got that? A bucket can stop a man armed with an assault rifle and two pistols -- but only if it's thrown by a janitor with a penis.
But wait, there's more!
Male aggression can be a good thing, as in protecting the weak — but it has been forced out of the culture of elementary schools and the education schools that train their personnel. Think of what Sandy Hook might have been like if a couple of male teachers who had played high-school football, or even some of the huskier 12-year-old boys, had converged on Lanza.
A husky bunch of 12 year olds is all it takes to keep our schools save from attack by heavily armed men -- why oh why didn't I think of that?
Oh and football, gotta have that. Because ex-football players with penises are definitely more courageous and also more immune to gunfire.
On a more serious note -- is this even an attempt to engage in a discussion of what to do about gun massacres, and in particular attacks upon our schools? It's more of an insult to the victims for not being men.
UPDATE: As indicated in the comments, Sandy Hook is a K-4 school. This was widely reported and is a well-known fact. Ms. Allen stated in her column that it was K-6, and from this she deduced that there might have been some "husky" 12 year olds that could have charged (unarmed) the killer. Her "husky" 12 year olds never existed.
And this is the person whom National Review calls an "expert". Some conversation.
