Wed. Dec. 19- Forge the Supply Chain, 12 noon to 7 pm
Please bring smaller pieces of foreign made clothing to Marion Square to be attached to our Supply Chain, which symbolizes the connections forged by Walmart which connect sweatshop labor in the developing worls to our own devastated textile economy in SC. Like the Ghost of Jacob Marley’s chain in Charles Dicken’s A Christmas Carol, it’s a ponderous chain and our will be hung with 112 items of clothing, one for each person killed in the fire.
Wed. Dec. 19- Organizing Meeting for Picket of Resistance, 8 pm
Meet at Club Room of Sgt. Jasper Apartments, 310 Broad Street. The club room is on the North end of the building, first floor. Sgt. Jasper Apartments hasn’t endorsed protest. We just rented the room.
Thurs.- Dec. 20- Block the Boat, 6 am (time may change, check for updates)

We’ll gather to establish a picket of resistance to the landing of the cargo aboard the Carolina Maersk, a containership bringing clothing manufactures at the factory where 112 garment workers were brurned to death in Bangladesh to Charleston. Van will pickup demonstrators downtown in front of the Visitor’s center on Meeting Street at 6:40 am. Contact us to be put on the pickup list. Those arriving by car and public transit can shuttle from the Starbucks in Belle Hall Shopping Center on Long Point Road. Call 870-5299 if you can’t find our contact at Starbucks to arrange a pickup. Bring your connected devices to sent out internet content. We’ll have Wi-Fi on site. No acts of violence are planned or expected. The first and largest group will move out from the Starbucks at 6 am with the goal of having our picket line in place well before the Port Gate is supposed to open at 7 am. If you get out there later, or come by transit, we'll be shuttling people out as we can. You can also walk from Starbucks to the Port Gate in about 20 minutes. It is sidewalked the entire way. If you do. show your sign to the morning traffic, make that walking pay.

7:21 PM PT: We'll meet up at the Starbucks in the Belle Hall Shopping Center on Long Point Road and shuttle from there at 6 am. There will be a pickup downtown in front of the Visitor's Center on Meeting Street at 6:40 am, but space will be limited. Our goal is to have a legally valid picket line deployed outside the port gate shortly after 6 am, well before the port gate opens at 7 am.
