Apparently President Obama held a secretive, "Off the Record" meeting December 4th with a few of our finest voices that included:
Most of MSNBC’s prime time lineup — Al Sharpton, Ed Schultz, Rachel Maddow, Lawrence O’Donnell — attended

Jonathan Capehart and Greg Sargent

the White House did at least issue this statement:
“This afternoon at the White House, the President met with influential progressives to talk about the importance of preventing a tax increase on middle class families, strengthening our economy and adopting a balanced approach to deficit reduction.”
The time has come for someone to come out and say what happened at that meeting.
I find it hard to believe that in a meeting with those folks no one mentioned Social Security.
If not one of those listed above thought Social Security was a worthy topic then we need to know that.
If the president promised to you that he would not jack with Social Security then to hell with the "off-the-record" bull crap, we deserve to know that.
If the president told those listed above that he would mess with Social Security then we, as your readers/viewers, are due an explanation as to why you kept this from us.
I find it hard to believe that the above listed crowd did not talk policy, especially on something as obvious as touching Social Security.
If you were lied to during an off-the-record meeting then the secrecy sworn to is no longer valid.
Those names are strong voices on the left and are doing us a disservice in their silence.
