It's key smashing time again on the internets. Obama has crossed us again and left us for dead. Figuratively and literally and once again figuratively. He's just that mean.

The great and wise coalition that once ago warned us the payroll tax holiday would undermine Social Security, are letting us know about the new threat to Social Security, in the new deal (the one that reportedly lets the payroll tax holiday expire. cough)

And this time, Pelosi's in on it... and Reid too... boy are we gonna let Obama have it for getting them involved!

I think I've got a handle on what y'all are putting down.
We saw this before with the public option kill the bill wrongfest.
Then it was the catfood commission zOMG.
Now it's the horrors of chained CPI.

I'm not buying it. Not buying the betrayal. The same lot of folks here that took it easy in 2010 are now so damn hurt that Obama is negotiating. If we really wanted to avoid that we should have put down our pet projects (American Taliban, dKos 4.0) and purchased every state house, rewrote the maps and pretty much assured the House of Representatives til 2023 (like they did). But we were too busy mocking the tea party and asserting our liberal cred with story after story about how Obama's negotiating skills were the one thing keeping us from the Promiseland.

Dear Liberals Chained CPI Is Not a Cut to Social Security, Get Over It

Asked whether she considers chained CPI a benefit cut, Pelosi told reporters Wednesday, “No. I don’t. I consider it strengthening of Social Security."

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

and will save a lot of money, why isn't the government implementing it on all government salaries form congress to the postmen, and encouraging CEOs and CFOs of all the banks and corporations to do likewise, just to set a good example to the rest of us.

There was a vote on an across the board federal pay freeze.

Postmen won't get a pay freeze, we're just gonna sell their buildings out from under them.

Sure of course, no problem.  Cut SS so you don't get one full month of benefits.  I can't see anything wrong there.

Oh yeah, we have them bad old postmen making too much money.  Lets cut them OR isn't it lets get rid of them completely.  Good luck with your privatized mail.

I think the postmen make their salary, and have always thought USPS has had excellent service compared with UPS or DHL.
        Now the congressmen....

It's simple.  If they go through with this, I won't lift a finger to help Dems in 2014.  Screw it.  They might as well remain the minority party if they are going to function like this with a majority in the Senate and the WH.

"We got ours..go find yours" Always suspected that any of the "tail boomers" born between 1957-1964 were not really part of the b-boomer generation..just a convenient "lump in" for demographers.

In 1985 I had a discussion w/ a U of Chicago econ. prof regarding wages. He proclaimed that all we need to do is boost our productivity and the wages would improve like magic. Seems the salaries got stuck in the board rooms and share holder's equity.

Our stalemated Congress created the cliff...and appear to be taking a walk towards it blindfolded.
