I'm not talking about trolls and obvious shit stirrers.
Whatever you write is an opinion, it may be fact based; or just a dream.
Opposing views are often enlightening, when well argued, and can be amusing even when poorly expressed [my diaries for example].
When facts are involved it is nice to get them right, or to point out politely [even jokingly] that something was lost in translation acceptable. There is no harm in saying "whoops my bad" and even deleting the whole goddamned mess when possible.
Nobody is right all the time, in fact most of us get it shockingly wrong more often than we would like to admit [again refer to my diary catalog for example].
You can always tell when someone is at least trying to be honest in what they write, it comes out in the wash. Dismissive statements that I'm right and you're wrong without respect and back up; are a telltale sign.
Throwing a temper tantrum is a sign of the weakness of your argument, and claiming that the world is going to end [the Democrats will lose an election] because of some diary or comment, a mere pipe-dream.
Exchanging ideas is fun; so is throwing the odd verbal hissy fit, it's just where you draw the line. For those that like drawing their lines thick and fast; maybe it's time to step back for a moment.
That's all I have to say.
