Well, the results are in. Park Geun-hye has been elected South Korea's first woman President.
The bad news:
1. She is the daughter of Park Chung-hee, the brutal dictator who ruled South Korea for 18 years until his assassination in 1979.
2. She defeated someone who appears to be a very good candidate, Moon Jae-in: a leftwing former human rights lawyer from the Democratic United Party, who had been imprisoned during the Park Chung-hee reign.
3. Her Saenuri party is likely very close to the powerful chaebol conglomerates that dominate the South Korean economy.
The good news:
She lives in Gangnam!
