Today at my company's Christmas party, I won one of the door prizes! Ticket numbers were given at the entrance door and my number was later drawn. After your number was drawn, you would go up front to draw a piece of paper from a bucket with a prize written on it. I won a 32" Coby high-definition flat screen TV!!!!!
so then I arrive home tonight from the party and turn my computer on. I had previously posted a picture of my front door on DKos Frankenoid's SMGB (Saturday Morning Garden Blogging). I decided to enter the picture in a Holiday Contest and just found out that I won First Prize!! I believe there were around 200 entries with several spending a few hundred dollars decorating theirs.
I spent a total of $21 on mine! I had bought the cheapest pine wreath and roping adding in boxwood and Japanese holly clippings from my yard to make them fuller. The magnolia leaves came from my deceased Kentucky Mema (grandmother's) magnolia tree in her backyard. The pine cones had been picked up from here and there over the years. I thought it all came together for a very muted early New England look which I really like. Apparently the six judges really liked it too! Mema, this was for you!
I tell you that it's the "end of the world" from a guy who never wins anything. (although a few on SMGB might disagree. :-)
