An Article just posted at the New York Times.
John Boehner is so incompetent that the house hasn't passed it's semi-decennial Farm Bill.
This, according to the New York Times, could cause the price of milk to reach between 6-8 dollars a gallon. The current nationwide average is a little over $3.
That's because without re-authorization the US would be buying milk at an inflated price. It would go back to permanent, larger, farm subsidies, while limiting planting. This will have the effect of making food more expensive. Benefits to renewables would also collapse. The reason? The last permanent farm bill was passed in 1949. Without re-authorization, we will default to an economic policy tool designed for an agricultural system that was unmechanized, and just emerging from the second world war.
This is sheer incompetence on the part of John Boehner, who may be the least effective speaker of the house in history.
Oh, and this is completely unrelated to the fiscal cliff.
So buy your milk in December, because John Boehner's incompetence means that food is about to get significantly more expensive, nationwide.
12:57 PM PT: Meanwhile, NPR reports that John Boehner was able to find the time to pass some defense spending.
I don't think I've ever seen a literal Guns Vs. Butter event.
