Wednesday!
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.
Still iced over, now with wind! 40 - 60 mph winds, kinda normal. If I had a parasail, I could use the wind to skate tow work.
Since I don't, I drove.
I brought both dogs to work with me because it's too cold to leave Xoco at home. I can't leave the space heater running untended all day, and the electric blanket shuts off automatically after 2 hours, so she'd freeze the rest of the day.
She's not happy here at work, but she's happier than she would be at home.
There's been no de-icing of the parking lot, so it was slick as all. I cheated and parked beside the door so I wouldn't have to walk so far. If they de-ice the parking lot at any time, I'll go move the car. I've already slipped on the ice here at work once before and broke bones. I'm not doing that again.
I've already had half a dozen co-workers call in sick, too. I doubt they are sick, they just don't want to drive on ice and are willing to give up a sick day for that.
I may be the only one here today.
