He is not a Tea Party member, but his regular, glossy mailings that I am sure are paid for by taxes keep glorifying Tea Party buzz words. Because I sincerely hope he cares about our country more than his reelection, I contacted him tonight for the first time ever. What I wrote below the fold.
Please get your party in line because they are about to hurt our country. The budget deal settled through the Senate is not perfect, and neither side is perfectly satisfied, but that alone is evidence that it is compromise, something a wing of your party has forgotten is necessary for our country to function.
Yes, taxes on the wealthy will rise. But you know what? They should. There is no evidence that lower taxes on the wealthy stimulates the economy, something you and your party knows because you tried to suppress the nonpartisan report that reported those facts because because your party didn't like the "language," even though the facts were solid.
Please help our country. Be a leader within your party, something your party needs right now, because they are not doing what's best for the country; they are only thinking of their reelection bids in the primary. And you know this. Thank you.
Do I think it will make it make a difference? It is a new year, so I have optimism and hope it will. At the very least, I hope people who have Republican reps will contact them today or tomorrow and remind them that they represent the country and not the next primary.
