GOP Rep. On Fiscal Cliff Deal: ‘We Got Whooped’
Rep. Steve LaTourette (R-OH) on Wednesday said that Republicans "got whooped" in the fiscal cliff negotiations.
"We all knew the President was going to get his way," LaTourette said on "CBS This Morning." "He campaigned on raising taxes, he wanted to raise taxes. He wins."
This is quite frankly a stunning admission from a GOP rep and highlights the massive, cratering, fractures that the GOP is undergoing right at this moment due to their complete and utter pawning by Obama. This could very easily splinter the party for real. This episode may have broken the back of the GOP.
And ask yourself, what would Tourette have to gain by this? For once in his life I believe he's being truthful. There's no other strategic explanation for this other than real, actual fracturing within the party. For more evidence of this, see Rep. Steve Kings freakout this morning as well.
Once again, Obama chumped them and they are left with NOTHING. And they know it and they are freaking out about it.
These clowns will once again get their clocks cleaned during the debt ceiling, because they are demoralized, beaten and fractured. They will have no comprehensive plan to deal with the debt ceiling. No one in the GOP will trust anyone else in the GOP. It will be every man for himself.
Meanwhile, the Dems have never been more united and we now have a PROVEN workable coalition of "not-as-insane" repubs that will apparently work with the Dem caucus to pass legislation.
The did it once, they will do it again, because these "not-as-insane" Repubs are the Corporate lackeys that WILL respond to their corporate masters who will NOT allow them to take the US in default and inflict massive damage on the world-wide economy.
The first time is always the hardest. But now there IS a workable coalition available and it will only be stronger in the new Congress with LESS Repubs and MORE Dems.
The show is just starting. The GOP is in complete, back stabbing, clown show disarray and it's only going to get worse for them from here on out.
