The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has authorized the use of federal funds to help Arizona fight the Mule Pass Fire in Cochise County.
Jan. 4, 2013. Arizona Congressman David Schweikert (R-6) voted "no" for $9.7 billion in emergency aid for the victims of Hurricane Sandy.

The National Flood Insurance bill passed overwhelmingly 354-67, with 4 of the "no" votes from one state: Arizona. Unlike most states, every one of our GOP congressmen voted not to provide funding for the insurance claims of hurricane victims. Luckily for America, the Grand Canyon State (which has no right to feel so grand today) only has four GOP representatives in the House.

I could have listed many, many more FEMA press releases documenting federal funds that were released to fight our mammoth and all-too-frequent summer fires. Like many other red states, Arizona has always received more from DC than we contribute ($1.60 received for every $1 paid), but when other areas need assistance, especially blue states like NY and NJ, our entire Republican delegation turned their back.

All five of Arizona's Democratic representatives voted for the Hurricane Sandy aid: Ann Kirkpatrick (D-1), Ron Barber (D-2), Raul Grijalva (D-3), Ed Pastor (D-7), and Kyrsten Sinema (D-9). The other four should hang their sorry-ass heads in shame, but they won't. They know no shame. Trent Franks will blame Hurricane Sandy on gays and abortion, and the others will drivel some nonsense about the deficit, at the same time they vote for more war machines and refuse to raise taxes on the wealthiest Americans. They are truly fuckheads of devastating proportions.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
