Regent's Disease is epidemic in Maryland, with 100 percent of the state's regents suffering from it.
For years its symptoms have been undiagnosed. It is chronic. It doesn't kill the infected hosts, but it is fatal to good government and the public trust.
It was recently identified, in mid-November, at the University System of Maryland.
Now the regents at Morgan State University have it.

The University of Maryland regents ... in actual fact, a state attorney who works for them ... have until Jan. 9 to submit their written response to a pair of open meeting complaints concerning meetings on Nov. 18 and 19.
Another complaint, which takes a broader look at all their meetings in 2012, has also been submitted. The response to that is due later in the month.
And the Morgan State University regents drew attention to themselves by holding a secret meeting (announced, but not held in a manner that conforms to the law) on Dec. 4. At that one they voted to oust the school's president.
Students and faculty made them eat their words, however, and in a hastily called Dec. 28 meeting the Morgan regents did an about-face. It appears the elements of that meeting may have been illegally conducted, but so far the required documentation has not appeared.
Meanwhile, a review of past minutes and meeting docs from Morgan State's regents shows, compared to the U of M board, remarkably similar problems with following the law.
