She actually gives a damn.
He's an old fart.
Here's Ashley Judd's mother, Naomi, on Larry King NOW giving her view on whether or not Ashley will make a run for the U.S. Senate against Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell:
Naomi Judd says her daughter Ashley still isn’t sure if she’ll seek Mitch McConnell’s Kentucky Senate seat in 2014.
“OK, here’s the deal. As of right now, she doesn’t know,” the country singer told Larry King in a web interview published Monday. “I can tell you she’s very interested in changing the world. And she knows that politics unfortunately right now is one of the ways she could do that. But I made her promise that if she should make a decision, that I’m the first to know.”
Ashley, an actress and vocal Democrat, has said she’s “honored” to be considered for political office and, according to POLITICO’s Manu Raju, has been seriously exploring a possible run.
There are certain skeptics who point to President Ronald Reagan and former California Governor Ah-Nold Schwarzenegger as reasons we should not nominate actors for public office.
On the other hand, we're also talking about two actors who were/are now Republicans. One was formerly a Democrat and became a Republican over time, the other is one of those rare moderate Republicans who actually gives a damn about the environment although his relationship with unions always was shaky.
Considering any potential criticism leveled against Ashley Judd as she considers running for the U.S. Senate in Kentucky, let's remember we have Senator Al Franken from Minnesota who himself was previously an actor, a sketch writer on Saturday Night Live and even a satirist. Not exactly a typical resume for a politician in Congress who typically works in the profession of law, business, medical, or even education. And in turn, Franken has continued to show passion for his views in the U.S. Senate and never hesitates to debate.
So why not Ashley Judd? She's got serious fire in her belly. She's a famous actress, yes, but she's also been more active in important political and social causes than even Reagan when he was president of the Screen Actor's Guild. If there were a Judd/McConnell debate, Ashley Judd would DESTROY Mitch McConnell.

She's quite a multitask-er.

Judd also has been through it all and grew up as an underdog:
She's also not afraid to talk about difficult issues and be fierce about it:
An article by the Huffington Post mentions the following information:

But a deeper look at the survey by the Republican pollster showed support for Judd plummeting when respondents were provided with details about the actress, such as her outspoken views against certain forms of coal extraction and current residence in Tennessee, which she represented as a delegate at last year’s Democratic National Convention. HuffPost's Jason Linkins also reported last month that Judd's liberal politics could be a tough sell in the Bluegrass State, which last sent Rand Paul, son of libertarian-leaning former Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas), to the Senate.
Well, too bad for those respondents. Coal is not renewable energy and it isn't 100% better than oil. If a Judd for Senate campaign brings more attention to this issue, then it will be good medicine for those living in Kentucky.
In the meantime, here's more on why Ashley Judd may bring real energy as a U.S. Senate candidate in Kentucky:

Yes, I know. She's an actress. What does she know?
I'm fine if you guys say no. But I say, yes, Ashley Judd, your country needs you and we know you have fire in your belly for higher office.
Besides, wouldn't it be great to have another woman's voice in Congress?
Here's a recent poll taken on a Judd/McConnell race:
http://www.salon.com/...
A new poll from PPP shows that in a hypothetical matchup between actress Ashley Judd and Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., Judd is only behind by 4 points.
Judd, who says she is considering a run in 2014, is trailing 47-43 percent behind McConnell, who happens to be the most unpopular senator in the country.
From PPP:
Only 37% of Kentucky voters approve of him to 55% disapprove. Both in terms of raw disapproval (55%) and net approval (-18) McConnell has the worst numbers of any of his peers, taking that mantle from Nebraska’s Ben Nelson.
McConnell is predictably very unpopular with Democrats (23/73). But his numbers are almost as bad with independents (33/58) and even with Republicans he’s well below the 70-80% approval range you would usually expect for a Senator within their own party (59/28).
Among Democrats, Judd is the top choice for the primary, with 29 percent of the vote, compared to Lt. Gov. Jerry Abramson who came in second at 16 percent.
PPP surveyed 1,266 Kentucky voters for the survey overall, and 585 Democratic primary voters.
