Crossposted from Hillbilly Report.

One thing I am already getting sick of hearing. Right-wing and gun "rights" advocates whining about the fact that our country needs some gun regulations in the wake of several mass gun-related deaths. They always want to point to their "second amendment rights" as a talking point about how Democrats and anyone who discusses the need for regulations are "stealing their guns". Well they can blabber about the Constitution all they want but one thing they never mention. The Constitution gives rights on the sole basis that those rights do not infringe upon the rights of others.

And while there are millions of responsible gun owners all across America who should be allowed to own guns that does not stop one fact. There are also millions of stupid idiots who should not have guns that do in America. Whether they are criminals, mentally ill, or just too stupid to know how to keep their guns where the wrong people can get a hold of them it is a problem.

And now we have idiots like this guy from Texas threatening impeachment of President Obama if he does what the House of Representatives is too stupid and cowardly to do. Solve a problem:

Rep. Steve Stockman (R-TX), who just began his second stint in the U.S. Congress, is already threatening to impeach President Obama should the administration use executive power to implement gun violence prevention efforts.

I will seek to thwart this action by any means necessary, including but not limited to eliminating funding for implementation, defunding the White House, and even filing articles of impeachment.

The President’s actions are an existential threat to this nation. The right of the people to keep and bear arms is what has kept this nation free and secure for over 200 years. The very purpose of the Second Amendment is to stop the government from disallowing people the means to defend themselves against tyranny. Any proposal to abuse executive power and infringe upon gun rights must be repelled with the stiffest legislative force possible.

What I would like to ask this stooge is this. What about the "tyranny" that does not allow an eight year old to go to school without being blasted into oblivion by an idiot who got a gun from someone who was too stupid to keep it away from him? And what the hell does Rep. Stockman think he is going to do even with an AK-47 against a cruise missile, a drone, or an Apache Helicopter heading his way? That is one fight I would love to see.

I have a simple message for him and anyone else who would oppose common-sense measures to try and solve what has become a definite problem. It is stupid idiots like him who let evil and disturbed folks get guns in their hands and infringe on the rights of other Americans who do not need a gun to have courage and murder them.

I could give a shit less whether these kind of people have guns or not. If they were not too ignorant to own guns then people like the Sandy Hook murderer or the school shooter at Heath High School right here in Paducah would not have found it so easy to senselessly murder.

So when people like this act like imbeciles they should know they are not patriots, adults or true Americans. They are showing themselves for what they are. Stupid idiots.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

  •  every president has been threatened with impeachme (0+ / 0-)

nt. So what? Whatever you think of Bush and Cheney, and I don't think  much of them, they tried to impeach them, and it never got anywhere. They DID impeach Clinton, and it failed in the trial. They tried to impeach the first Bush. It didn't gert anywhere. They tried to impeach Reagan (iran contra), and Carter, and Ford...Nixon before watergate, LBJ...

This is nothing. The Beats (Karoac, Ferlingetti et al) tried to get Ike impeached, I could go on and on and on going all the way to Washington himself. Don't sweat it.

And something has to be done about it.
If we continue on as is, if we don't find a way to get a better grip on gun ownership by people who shouldn't have them, we will continue to witness (or become victim to) the carnage.
This is the part the the so called responsible gun owners fail to see: that their unfettered freedom to obtain deadly weapons enables access to guns by people that we can all pretty much agree shouldn't have them. Sorry if gun laws make your hobby inconvenient or more expensive, widespread open access to weapons by dangerous people makes all of the rest of our lives less convenient and more expensive. And we can't opt out.

If I ran this circus, things would be DIFFERENT!
