Ivan caused an estimated US$18 billion ($22.1 billion 2013 USD) in damages to the United States, making it the fifth costliest hurricane ever to strike the country.
Hurricane Sandy damage in the US is estimated at over $63 billion (2013 USD).

Ashton Hayward, the mayor of Pensacola announced recently that the Federal Emergency Management Agency has agreed to reimburse the city $1,012,389 for costs associated with Hurricane Ivan.
Hayward had made it a priority and traveled to Washington, D.C. in March 2011 to personally meet with FEMA. He also solicited the help of Sen. Bill Nelson and Rep. Jeff Miller.
