HuffPost reports that Rick Scott has flip flopped and endorsed increasing early voting days and locations, releasing this statement:

“Our ultimate goal must be to restore Floridians’ confidence in our election system... We must continually push to make improvements, and I look forward to working with the Legislature on a bi-partisan bill to implement these reforms this session.”
I guess making people wait for up to six hours to vote doesn't make you very popular. And he MUST have also seen PPP's poll yesterday:
His approval rating has sunk to a horrific 33-57 (down from 37-48 in November) and is getting pounded in the head-to-heads versus an array of Democrats:

• 39-53 vs. ex-Gov. Charlie Crist
• 40-47 vs. 2010 nominee Alex Sink
• 39-43 vs. Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio
• 42-44 vs. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz
• 41-37 vs. state Sen. Nan Rich
• 41-37 vs. Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer

First of all, since, I know now that Rick Scott reads Daily Kos, what's up, Rick?

Second, his about-face is amazing and hilarious in its completeness. He went from saying this about the voting process:

“Well I’m very comfortable that the right thing happened”
to this:
“It was not my bill... The Legislature passed it. I didn’t have anything to do with passing it.”
I guess he doesn't think signing a bill into law has anything to do with passing a bill into law. Come on. Either this guy thinks the whole world is really stupid to believe what he says, or he is actually stupid enough to believe it himself. And he is pretending that journalists haven't caught him already defending the voting process. That's Michelle Bachmann's level of dishonesty right there.

But, to be fair, he distanced himself with that last statement on Tuesday and the poll was conducted on Wednesday, so the poll might not be the only factor that precipitated the back-pedal. But, it sure is fun to imagine his eyes bulge at seeing the poll from yesterday, and frantically wondering what to do.

I can rant on and on about him, but I will laugh and comfort myself with the knowledge that making early voting easier also makes progressive wins easier, and that no matter what he does Rick Scott is going to lose in 2014.

Thank God.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
