Once again, Rand Paul proves he fails history.  Today, in his rant to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Rand Paul falsely boasted that the Beghazi attack was the worst "tragedy" since 9/11.

"I think ultimately with your leaving that you accept the culpability for the worst tragedy since 9/11. And I really mean that."

Rand Paul, 1/23/2013 During Sec of State Hillary Clinton testimony

Rand Paul is so damn dumb and wrong.  The worst "tragedy" since 9/11 could be the twenty 6 year olds who were massacred at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

President Obama has said the massacre of (20) 6year olds at Sandy Hook was the worst day of his Presidency.

Not only does Rand Paul fail current events, he fails those "tragedies" that happened during the Bush Administration:

Anthrax Attack - 5 Americans murdered, 17 injured

DC Sniper - 9 Americans murdered on American soil, 3 wounded

Iraq War - 5000 US Troops killed searching for imaginary WMD

June 14, 2002, U.S. consulate in Karachi, Pakistan
Suicide bomber kills 12 and injures 51.

February 20, 2003, international diplomatic compound in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Truck bomb kills 17.

February 28, 2003, U.S. consulate in Karachi, Pakistan
Gunmen on motorcycles killed 2 consulate guards.

July 30, 2004, U.S. embassy in Taskkent, Uzbekistan
Suicide bomber kills 2.

December 6, 2004, U.S. consulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
Militants stormed and occupied perimeter wall. 5 killed, 10 wounded.

August 2005, Hurricane Katrina - 1,833 people died.
Katrina was the deadliest U.S. Hurricane since the 1928 Okeechobee hurricane; total property damage was estimated at $81 billion nearly triple the damage brought by Hurricane Andrew in 1992

March 2, 2006, U.S. consulate in Karachi, Pakistan
Suicide car bomber killed 4, including a U.S. diplomat directly targeted by the assailants.

September 12, 2006, U.S. embassy in Damascus, Syria
Gunmen attacked embassy with grenades, automatic weapons, and a car bomb (though second truck bomb failed to detonate). 1 killed and 13 wounded.

July 9, 2008, U.S. consulate in Istanbul, Turkey
Armed men attacked consulate with pistols and shotguns. 3 killed.

September 17, 2008, U.S. embassy in Sana'a, Yemen
Militants dressed as policemen attacked the embassy with RPGs, rifles, grenades and car bombs. 6 soldiers guarding the embassy and 7 civilians were killed. 16 more were injured.

April 16, 2007 - Virginia Tech University: 32 Killed, 23 injured

To underscore and highlight Rand Paul's ignorance of other "current events"
July 20, 2012 Aurora Colorado Movie Theater Massacre where 12 murdered, 58 injured.

October 2012 Hurricane Sandy - One more of the factually "worst tragedies" since 9/11 was Hurricane Sandy (131 reported killed) where Rand Paul voted AGAINST the $60 Billion Relief Funding for Hurricane Sandy victims -- and Rand Paul also voted against the watered-down GOP version of $24 Billion Relief Funding for Hurricane Sandy victims.

Rand Paul is a GD idiot and his actions in Congress show that he does not give one damn about preventing another "worse tragedy" since 9/11 as he is against any and all Gun Safety legislation.

From his website:

"Gun control laws only restrict access to responsible gun ownership ... I plan to remain vigilant and fight against infringements on our 2nd Amendment rights."

Rand Paul website.

In short, Rand Paul is saying "so what if 'worse tradegies' since 9/11 are happening on US soil and Americans are getting massacred on US soil - ta hell with Gun Safety Laws."

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
