More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

One dead as strong storms rake South, Midwest

A large storm system packing high winds, rain and some possible twisters tore across several states in the South and central U.S. early Wednesday, blacking out power to thousands, downing trees and damaging homes.

CBS Nashville affiliate WTVF-TV reports one person was killed when a tree fell on a shed.

At least one person was reported injured by lightning in Arkansas during the storm's eastward trek, marking the onslaught of an approaching cold front expected to sweep over a large part of the East Coast in coming hours.

The rapidly changing conditions created a risk of tornadoes in the nation's midsection and South. The National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Okla., said the threat was greatest in northeast Texas, northern Louisiana, northwest Mississippi, southeast Missouri and much of Arkansas.

  •  Hassling with the VA (3+ / 0-)

I knew this woud happen. The VA called me last Monday, tol me th biopsy result and said someone from the Portland VA would call me by the end of the week to set up the medical procedure.
They didn't. Nor Monday or Tuesday either. So now I have to chase them down and make someone responsible, get the thing done.
This is not untypical dealing with the VA so I'm not surprised. I was ready for this but I can see someone who's not being really pissed about this.

    Happy just to be alive

Is what pizza chain Mellow Mushroom told a National guardsman serving in Afghanistan when he ordered a surprise pizza delivery to his wife on her birthday.

Pizza Chain Makes Special Delivery for Soldier in Afghanistan

Josephine Fulker loves Mellow Mushroom pizza, so her husband emailed Mellow Mushroom's corporate website on Thursday to ask whether one of the company's Jacksonville stores could deliver a pizza and a $50 gift card to his wife at their Jacksonville, Fla., home. If they could, he said, he would call the store and pay for it with his credit card.

Mellow Mushroom did one better. Unbeknownst to Shawn Fulker, a local Mellow Mushroom franchise was working to make his request even more memorable.

"We had the cook make a heart-shaped pizza, and then we stopped by the nearest Publix (supermarket) to get flowers and then we picked up balloons, just to kind of make it special," Brooke Chafee, a manager at the Jacksonville store, told ABCNews.com on Monday evening.

Chafee and another employee of the store made the special delivery - which included the $50 gift card to Mellow Mushroom - in person to Fulker's home on Thursday. They didn't charge Shawn Fulker a thing.

They sent Shawn an email with a photo of his wife and son at their front door receiving the gift and told him there would be no charge and added: "We got you, bro."
