As I pointed out in this diary it is easy to see why Republicans have a problem with women. They simply do not care about the issues that are important to them. Forget the fact that Republicans do not believe they should make as much money as men it unfortunately goes much further than that. Republicans like my Senator, the Mad Doctor with the twisty curls Rand Paul do not even believe that women deserve protections against domestic violence, rape and stalking.
I guess you should expect as much from someone whose idea of a good time in his youth was kidnapping a woman and forcing her to pray to "Aqua Buddha". However, Rand Paul has not the excuse of youth now and his respect for women obviously has not changed. Now, he is blocking the Re authorization of the Violence Against Women Act with a few like-minded zealots in the Senate:
Eight Senators on Monday voted not to consider the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, a bill that protects victims of domestic violence. The Senators who voted against moving to debate on the bill were: Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX), Mike Lee (R-UT), Tim Scott (R-SC), Marco Rubio (R-FL), Mike Johanns (R-NE), Rand Paul (R-KY), Pat Roberts (R-KS), and James Risch (R-ID).

Even worse, recently at the hearing on the Benghazi attacks Republicans have been so obsessed with while America yawns Paul got to show his disrespect to women who work to Hillary Clinton:
All that was left was him to fire up a blunt and force her to pray to a non-existent deity.
But seriously, all this brings up a very disturbing fact. While Paul "really means" that four people getting killed in the Benghazi attack is the "worst tragedy since 9-11" that just cements his disrespect and disregard for the violence that has occurred against women.
Look at the real tragedy, a tragedy Paul is blocking legislation to curb:
Number of U.S. troops killed in Afghanistan and Iraq: 6,614:
Number of women, in the same period, killed as the result of domestic violence in the US: 11,766.
Number of workplace violence incidents in the U.S. annually that are the result of current or past intimate partner assaults: 18,700.
Number of women in the U.S. who report intimate partner violence: 1 in 4.
Increase in likelihood that a woman will die a violent death if a gun in present in the home: 270 percent.
Percentage of the 31 Senate votes cast against the Violence Against Women Act that came from older, white, male Republicans: 95.8.
Chance that a girl of high school age in the U.S. experiences violence in a dating relationship: 1 in 3.
Percentage of teen rape and abuse victims who report their assailant as an intimate: 76.

Get the picture? While Rand Paul thinks that Benghazi is the greatest tragedy since 9-11 to score cheap political against you guessed it, a woman thousands of women have been killed by domestic violence while he blocks the re authorization of a bill designed to prevent it.
You know what the second greatest tragedy since 9-11 is? That a radical zealot that so clearly cares so little about the fates of women not only in the workplace but in abusive relationships can actually be elected into the United States Senate.
One thing I can assure you. In 2016 unlike Rand Paul we will be working hard to insure that at least one tragedy is remedied.
