In 2002 I was medically retired from the US Army with 100% disability, about 18 months ago now I started to have really bad nightmares, keeping me from getting a good nights sleep. I usually wake up 3 or 3 times a night covered in sweat and screaming. The most sleep I get at one time is 2 to 3 hours. I went through the SF VAMC's Phsyco-Social Recovery program ad they taught me a lot of things that have HELP, but the nightmares have not gone away. I am walking 3-5 miles a day, have gotten involved in community groups and clubs, and take Trazadone at bed time, but nothing has really seemed to help. Do the nightmares ever go away. Less sure, but is there hope that one day I will sleep the night through without waiting up in a old sweat and screaming, or is this my life now?
