Well, it appears Karl Rove's Crossroads ad is making Ashley Judd a star.  This doesn't help me in my cause to find out the truth of President Obama's birth certificate.
I thought Ashley Judd would run for parliment!
What am I going to do?  What am I going to do?
Guys, do you want a grown up to be in the federal government or not?
Oh boy!  The pressure certainly seems to be building on Ashley Judd to enter or not enter the U.S. Senate Race in Kentucky.

You've got to admit, if Ashley Judd does run in the 2014 race, it will be the most watched race in 2014, more so than Mitch McConnell's last re-election race in 2008 when would-be Democrat Bruce Lunsford challenged him.

One thing not to forget:  The election results for the KY-Sen race in 2008 showed Lunsford receiving 47% of the votes whereas McConnell received 53%.  Therefore, the race was very close

However, the stakes are higher just as much with the Democrats as they are for Mitch McConnell trying to survive a re-election challenge within his own party from a Tea Party candidate.

Decision 2014: Judd drag?

KENTUCKY: “Actress Ashley Judd’s movement toward a Senate run against Minority Leader Mitch McConnell makes Democrats in Washington, D.C., happy,” Roll Call writes. “But back in Kentucky, for many Bluegrass State Democrats, a potential Judd run brings a different feeling: heartburn.”

Ahhh yes.  Ashley Judd is brings heartburn among these "Democrats" in Kentucky.  And what are these Democrats doing to fire up their base?  NOTHING.

In an interview with The Hill last month, Kentucky Democratic strategist Dale Emmons also poured cold water on the idea.

“There's some time for this to play out, but we don’t need to waste a lot of time on a fantasy. We need a real candidate,” he said.

“If she runs, I think that it would be a catastrophe for a lot of downballot races in Kentucky,” Jimmy Cauley, a Kentucky Democratic strategist, told Roll Call, adding that a number of state Democratic lawmakers had "significant worry about Ashley being on the ballot.”
Ooooh, a catastrophe.  Oh I'm so scared.  NOT.

But of course Rand Paul appears not to be scared:

And neither is Donald Trump:

Based on Ashley Judd's statement in response to Karl Rove's ad and MSNBC's coverage of the situation at hand, it doesn't appear the GOP is taking Judd's candidacy lightly:

However, this is where it gets REALLY interesting.  As cited from the latest New York Times article covering the Kentucky U.S. Senate Race, an Ashley Judd candidacy may not be as crazy for Kentucky residents as the Democratic and Republican insiders in the state would like us to believe:

http://www.nytimes.com/...

Still, many residents said Ms. Judd’s character, which they admired, was more important than her politics.

“She may be a little too liberal for me,” said Janice Taylor, a 71-year-old retiree. But neither was she a fan of Mr. McConnell’s.

“I’ve got tired of him,” she said. “He’s always against everything.”

Perry Dalton, 67, who retired from the AK Steel plant in Ashland, said he was a Republican but liked Ms. Judd because she was not a typical politician.

“I know she wants to come back to help her state, her community, just from her heart,” said Mr. Dalton, holding the hand of a granddaughter before a ride on an electric indoor train at the Town Center mall. “I know she’s more liberal than me. But honesty is more important to me than anything.”

Joan Christian, 42, a hospital technician, said she previously voted for Mr. McConnell but would not rule out Ms. Judd even because of her current residence out of state.

“I think she’s as qualified as anyone,” Ms. Christian said. “She was an educated professional woman before she was an actress.”

Ashley Judd knows a thing or two about Republicans.  She deals with them in her family:

Now if Ashley Judd can play into the above sentiment among voters as cited in the New York Times article, she has a good shot at beating Mitch McConnell for re-election or whoever beats him in the Republican primaries.  An Judd for Senate candidacy will send shockwaves across the U.S. both in her announcement and her eventual win (if she does win).

And Rep. John Yarmuth is aware of this:

“I think, I would actually be surprised if she didn't run at this point,” U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth (D) said.

But this bit of news may give us a very telling indication that Ashley Judd may in fact be leaning towards running for the U.S. Senate against Mitch McConnell:

http://www.whas11.com/...

Actress Ashley Judd told influential Democrats in Louisville that she is leaning toward running for U.S. Senate against Mitch McConnell and plans to make her decision by Derby Day (May 6), sources tell WHAS11 News.

Judd dined Thursday night at the home of philanthropist Christy Brown, the widow of Brown-Forman Chairman & CEO Owsley Brown II.

Sources tell WHAS11 News that Judd's Louisville dinner companions included:

Congressman John Yarmuth,
Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer,
Former Kentucky Democratic Party Chairman Jonathan Miller,
Waterfront Development Director David Karem, a former state senator,
Mary Moss Greenbaum, Founder and Producer of the Kentucky Author Forum,
Owsley Brown III,
Gil and Augusta (Brown) Holland
and
Judd's uncle, a Hardin County minister

In my view, Ashley Judd is already ready for the U.S. Senate.  She's got fire in her belly, is another Elizabeth Warren-type of progressive we Kossacks can rally behind with and has been involved in politics for a long time.

But Judd also has that activist and campaign organizing spirit in her just like Barack Obama does:

Don't we just want her in the U.S. Senate right now?

Maybe we should help make Ashley Judd's decision making easier:

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
