What does it take to inspire people?  To reach deep down into their hearts to help spark the strongest emotions born out of every person's desire to be free and to live in dignity?  Of course, that's the purview of great warriors and generals, as well as moral giants like Martin Luther King, Jr., Gandhi, and JFK.

The system is broken.  Corruption is endemic.  Corporatist interests have taken over the government.  The corporate media conglomerate is being used to manipulate the population at the behest of parasitic moneyed interests.

Every day the U.S. media regale us with false narratives, misinformation, and propaganda peddling pablum, lies, and absurdities.

Our collective clamor for justice, for accountability, for redress of our grievances is falling on deaf ears.  We are on our own.  It's up to us--each one of us--to take action.

You can do it; we can do it; together.  Any doubt you may have is the direct result of misinformation and propaganda to which we are being exposed every hour of the day.

I have a plan for your consideration... I tell you what; I'd rather spend my time thinking about every possible way in which I can take action in holding people who have betrayed the public trust accountable, than to report on every dastardly act being done to us.

I'm not interested in reporting what they do.  I'm interested in taking action against "them."  Does that turns me into a Don Quixote tilting at windmills?  Maybe.  But I would argue that there is a little bit of Don Quixote in every person who has ever thought it was possible to take on a corrupt system.  And that's how we've been able to move civilization forward, inch by inch, rejecting the imposition of tyranny in favor of freedom and democracy.

My proposal focuses on addressing four core issues which I've identified as the root causes for the social dysfunction which has engulfed the country.  I clearly understand that for these proposals to get any traction, there would have to be coordinated effort by tens of thousands of people across the entire country, and that's just to get it going.

I'm one, and I'm slowly been able to recruit a few others, and we'll continue this effort until we succeed.

  • Media: As a result of corporate media conglomeration in the U.S., the citizenry is bombarded with false narratives, misinformation, lies, propaganda, and sensationalism, all carefully designed to manipulate the citizens a the behest of the corporate owners. We will take action against this propaganda machine.
  • Government: Our government institutions have been corrupted by the wealth and power of corporatists cartels.  The corruption is endemic, and widespread, in towns, cities, states, and the federal government.  We will take action against corrupt government officials, from coast to coast.
  • Corporatist Cartels: Corporatist cartels, driven by unquenchable greed, have corrupted our entire system of government.  For an overview about this topic, please watch Bill Moyer's documentary, The United States of ALEC.  These cartels need to be de-funded.  I have specific proposals about how to start the process.  We will take action against corporatist cartels.
  • Education and Outreach: An important component of my proposed plan of action involves the need to engage in a nationwide outreach and education campaign to reach as many people as possible, with two main objectives: (1) Inform them about the current state of affairs; (2) Recruit them to the cause of reclaiming democracy, and helping bring about a better future for themselves, and for future generations

An integral part of the strategy I'm proposing is the concept of harnessing the wisdom of crowds.  In that regard, I'll be working on developing ideas about crowd funding in different areas, including activism, business, housing, food, business collectives, employee-owned businesses, and mass communication.  As I move this process forward, and especially, as I get input from YOU, I will be sharing the information on my website, at www.raypensador.com.

How are we going to do these things?  The first, and most important step is to join forces.  We will harness the collective wisdom of the citizens who join in this worthwhile cause.  We will expose the lies, and the corruption; we will educate the population about the reasons for the social dysfunction; and we will take a series of actions in a very coordinated, strategic, and relentless manner.

We will remove the choke-hold corporatist interests have on our democracy.  We will break the criminal too-big-to-fail, too-big-to-jail, banking oligopolies.  We will tear down the propagandist media conglomerates.  We will de-fund the corporatists, thus removing their power.  We will rescind every draconian law that has chipped away at our constitutional rights.  We will establish a sane and fair economic system.

How long is it going to take?  I don't know, but we need to start now.

P.S. The "Braveheart" cultural/entertainment reference is an appeal for people to think about how the collusion between nefarious corporatists interests and corrupt politicians on the take, threaten our very freedom and economic well-being.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

    Ray,

    agree

    the problems are obvious

    they are getting worse

the 1% must love Obama since it looks like he will deliver on The Grand Bargain and energy and keep the military going

the lure of the mass of people on the internet - but the need for marketing to reach them, and the need to organize, etc.

an excellent book on organizing is by John Atlas who spent 4 years at ACORN "Seeds of Change: The story of ACORN, America's most controversial antipoverty community organization."

While I am still pushing some items for the wider audience, I am spending much more time with progressives here in Columbus Oh. A couple publish the Columbus Free Press which broke important stories about election integrity here in Ohio.

I wish you luck in your effort.

Losing everything--their jobs, their homes, their ability to feed their children.

Much of the country is in a stupor, a fever dream of fear and denial. They cannot see alternatives to the way they're living now because they cannot believe that what has happened in our country is real. The younger folks don't even remember that, once upon a time, things used to be different.

Once they lose everything, the healing can begin. But where do they go from there?

Community gardens, swap meets, farmers' markets, and other community gathering places. Slowly, gradually, they will come to see these places as the new Starbucks and Wal-Mart--places you go to "shop" or socialize.

They will figure it out. I know this because this is the way it used to be, and by necessity, we will need to assume this way of life again.
