Join USAction and our allies as we fight for PEOPLE over PENTAGON PORK. Congress has a clear choice: protect vital domestic programs OR Pentagon CEOs. But they need to hear from you.
From Philadelphia and Chicago, all the way to Boise, Idaho and Spokane, Washington — all across the country, Americans are rising up against our bloated Pentagon budget. In Columbus, we have former Rep. Dennis Kucinich joining us for a press event and discussion. In Nashua, NH we’re protesting outside of Sen Kelly Ayotte’s office who has fought to cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid to pay for Pentagon waste. And in Washington, DC, protesters will gather outside the lobbying office of Lockheed Martin, the world’s largest defense contractor, to demand an end to wasteful Pentagon spending. And we’ll have a giant 20-foot-tall inflatable pig too!
We need your help to draw public attention and scrutiny to the pork-laden Pentagon budget. So join us as we host a national day of action tomorrow, February 27th to rein in wasteful Pentagon spending and protect our priorities and the middle class.

The Feb. 27 National Day of Action is taking place as Congress faces a series of deadlines on our country’s budget priorities, including possible automatic spending cuts scheduled to take place beginning midnight on March 1. Some 120 national organizations have signed on to a letter circulated by USAction, Coalition on Human Needs and NETWORK calling on Congress to rein in wasteful Pentagon spending. And already, over 100,000 USAction members have called on Congress to rein in wasteful Pentagon spending.
Here's what's at stake: Right now, 83% of Lockheed Martin's sales come from you and me, the American taxpayer. And they lobby day in and day out to protect their profits on wasteful programs like the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, which has a total cost estimated at $1.5 trillion!1
The F-35 is an over-budget and unnecessary warplane. Even former Defense Secretary Robert Gates called the F-35 an “unnecessary and extravagant expense.”2
And while we've fought for years to cut this massive piece of pork throughout the Pentagon budget, the F-35 is just one example of the massive waste and abuse from Lockheed Martin. The Pentagon budget is full of wasteful programs lining the pockets of contractor CEOs and lobbyists. And these same lobbyists are already circling the halls of Congress to ensure they get the best deal. Now it’s time Congress heard from the People too.
Momentum is building to rein in the waste and abuse in the Pentagon budget. So join us in our National Day of Action to Pull the Pork from the Pentagon tomorrow. Click here to find an event near you.
