Thursday!
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.
The temps have been falling into the 20's at night, and the days in the 40's so while it' cold enough to kill off excess bugs, it's not cold enough to freeze pipes.
We've had an average winter here, finally. A bit dry, but this is the type of winters we had when I first moved to Oklahoma, and the sort of winter I expected. Chilly, sometimes cold, with the temps dipping into the upper to mid-20's. We'd get an ice storm or two that lasted a day, and maybe a scattering of snow that also melts within a day.
This is about as cold as I like it to get, being a person who prefers a warmer climate.
Unfortunately, with this chilly weather, when I send the dogs out to potty, sometimes stray critters come in through the open door.
That was apparently the case yesterday morning before I went to work.
A tom cat wandered in, hid, and when I closed up the house to go to work, trapped him inside.
He was not a happy camper and sprayed in various places in the house. I spent all evening trying to find all the stinky places and cleaning them. I have missed a few because I still smell that rank male cat urine odor.
He may have peed in some of my fabric stash. I hope, when I launder it again, that I can remove the odor completely.
And now I have to be vigilant when the dogs go out that no strays wander in.
