We can't support public health care systems. Too extreme.
Isn't it about time we actually give a damn about the American people?
With all the hype surrounding actress Ashley Judd's candidacy, you'd think she'd actually run already. However, no matter how much people try to pressure her, she still has fire in her belly.
Here's Judd at a recent event at George Washington University where she gave a speech:

Judd spoke for about 25 minutes and then took questions from students. She drew laughs at the outset when she said, “I can’t wait to hear from the college Republicans.”
During the questioning, Judd was not asked to address her more controversial statements that could be problematic in a Senate campaign. But she appeared to acknowledge those in attendance to hear whether she would reveal anything about her political ambitions.
“I am way more nervous than you,” she told one questioner. “I mean there are people in here who don’t give a rat’s you-know-what about public health.”
No kidding. Republicans pounced on this statement give the usual brain dead remarks like they usually do to try to, DESPERATELY, beef up their base. It's as if PR is all the GOP has anymore rather than real substance.
Following her remarks, national Republicans immediately pounced.
“Kentucky Democrats are terrified by Ms. Judd’s extreme views and her Tennessee residence and many of them predict a down-ballot catastrophe if she runs,” National Republican Senatorial Committee spokesman Brad Dayspring said in an email to The Daily Caller. “After hearing today that Ms. Judd ‘winters in Scotland,’ looks like they’re spot on.”
And there's this as well:
The DC reported earlier this week about some of the baggage she would bring with her into a Senate campaign, mostly in the form of statements that would likely not go over well with the conservative-leaning voters of Kentucky.
Among those statements: Judd has said that it is “unconscionable to breed” while there are so many starving children in the world. She has also criticized the tradition of fathers “giving away” their daughters at weddings, has compared mountaintop removal mining to the Rwandan genocide and characterized Christianity as a religion that “legitimizes and seals male power.”
Another problem she would likely face in a campaign is the fact that she currently lives in Tennessee, not Kentucky.
While a number of Democrats in Kentucky have recently expressed low enthusiasm for a Judd candidacy, the only Democrat from the state in the House of Representatives predicted this week that she would get in the race. Judd has reportedly met with officials from the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, an organization which helps recruit Democratic candidates.
So wait, the Kentucky Democratic Party is a Democratic Party? It sure acts like a Republican Party to me, given the wimpy nature of the Democrats actually trying to always be moderates instead of real Democrats. I don't have a problem with moderates but I do have a problem with people who pander being a moderate rather than just being themselves.
Look, we don't have to abandon our progressive viewpoints or tone down our fire necessarily to win over conservative voters. Ashley Judd already has a bit of recognition on this front:

Still, many residents said Ms. Judd’s character, which they admired, was more important than her politics.
“She may be a little too liberal for me,” said Janice Taylor, a 71-year-old retiree. But neither was she a fan of Mr. McConnell’s.
“I’ve got tired of him,” she said. “He’s always against everything.”
Perry Dalton, 67, who retired from the AK Steel plant in Ashland, said he was a Republican but liked Ms. Judd because she was not a typical politician.
“I know she wants to come back to help her state, her community, just from her heart,” said Mr. Dalton, holding the hand of a granddaughter before a ride on an electric indoor train at the Town Center mall. “I know she’s more liberal than me. But honesty is more important to me than anything.”
Joan Christian, 42, a hospital technician, said she previously voted for Mr. McConnell but would not rule out Ms. Judd even because of her current residence out of state.
“I think she’s as qualified as anyone,” Ms. Christian said. “She was an educated professional woman before she was an actress.”
It's not that the national party has gone so far to the left. My goodness, what is that even supposed to mean? So that means if we progressives and liberals actually give a damn and think in reality, we're supposed to automatically be moving to the left?
Oh right! Almost forgot! Reality has a liberal bias. :)
Therefore, Ashley Judd should just put a silence to the Kentucky "Democratic Party," except Rep. John Yarmuth because at least he gives a damn.
Here's a good video of Abby Huntsman from Huffington Post on the talk over how does one transition from being an actor to U.S. Senate (can only post the link because the Huff Post's embedding option sucks). I know I shouldn't make these off the cuff remarks but Jon Huntsman Jr.'s daughter, Abby Huntsman, is pretty attractive. I know, I know. I should shut up about this:

So now we just need Ashley Judd to run. "Extreme views" indeed. Like, Elizabeth Warren's extreme views really were an impediment for her to run in the U.S. Senate in Massachusetts yet she became the first woman U.S. Senator in the state. Oh sure, it's more liberal than KY but still.
And yes, I'm putting Judd and Warren in the same paragraph because, like Warren, Judd is a fighter and she's got mad skills. And we need her to fight in the U.S. Senate along with Warren. She's a strong woman.
(Judd appears at the 0:37 mark of the video)
Now let's continue to torture the Kentucky "Democratic Party" with calls to the DSCC. Well, it's not as if they can stop Ashley Judd from running.
