Imagine, you do a good job at your job one day. You get your work done in an exemplary fashion. You might get an award, you might get a cash bonus, you might get a trophy, you might get a simple pat on the back by your boss, or you might not get any credit.
But one fact remains:
You still have to put your pants on tomorrow one leg at a time. You still have to show up at work and do it all over again. Not one person is going to bow down to your awesomeness simply by being in your presence.
Unless you live in the delusional world of the Republicans in the House of Representatives.
Beohner from this past week:
"We already passed two (dead on arrival) budget bills"
and
"We already raised revenue, so the revenue issue is now closed."
Hey Boehner and associates: Your job is to make deals. Get the hell to work! You haven't done your job.
Real life examples of resting on your laurels:
Referring the Super Bowl and then coasting through reffing a kids game the next day.
(The parents and kids don't give a crap what you reffed the day before.)
Selling cars the day after you sold 5 cars the day before and not selling any cars the next day.
Delivering all the packages to their proper addresses as a UPS or Fed Ex Delivery person today, and then randomly delivering packages anywhere the next day.
As a cook, making great tasting pizzas one day, and selling frozen pizza instead of fresh the next day.
Winning the Daytona 500 and crashing your car in the next practice session.
I wish I could get out of bed, only to have everyone bow down before me and to have everything taken care of for me.
But oops, that would make me like a billionaire Koch Brother.
Instead, I will show up for work tomorrow and work as hard as I can to earn money for my family. I dare Congress to do the same.
