So, in what seems to be the trend, rather than the exception, another supposed scandal has been shown to be completely fabricated by the right.
The WashingtonPost reportsthat:
An escort who appeared on a video claiming Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) paid her for sex has told Dominican Republic police that she was instead paid to make up the claims in a tape recording and has never met or seen the senator before, according to court documents and two people briefed on her claim.
and have the authorities brought forth any evidence?
FBI agents conducting interviews in the Dominican Republic have found no evidence to back up the tipster’s allegations, according to two people briefed on their work.
So let me just remind you that this story was pushed by The Daily Caller, and shown as breaking news by The Drudge Report before the election. I don't quite remember the headline on Drudge, but it was trumped up before it was even announced on their page. That isn't journalism, that's sensationalism. And sensationalism based on an unsubstantiated lie at that. And right before an election, it strikes me as pathetic and desperate. And it was a failure, since Menendez won anyway.
But wnat's funny is that their accusation against was exactly what Rush Limbaugh was caught doing, except with a tub of viagra. At least they brought attention to that.
