In a recent interview, Mike Allen discussed the Boy Scouts with billionaire Microsoft founder Bill Gates, a former scout. While Gates had many kind things to say about the skills he learned through the organization, he gave very pointed—and perfect—advice to the group on how to stay relevant (and stop being a haven for bigots).
The magic three words:
ALLEN: Should the Boy Scouts of America rescind its ban on gay members and leaders?
GATES: Absolutely.
ALLEN: …Why?
GATES: Because it’s 2013.
That works. As it happens to work, by the way, for a
majority of Americans.
