Everyone here knows about alt-folk singer Michelle Shocked's unexpected, hopefully-career-ending anti-gay rant a few days ago, which left a bad taste in all of our mouths.
Well, consider this a palate cleanser. This is utterly irrelevant to anything political, and I don't normally post about stuff like this, but I gotta admit, this little moment got to me:
Pink Stops Show To Comfort Crying Child
Rocker/popster Pink may come off as one tough cookie, but it turns out the singer has an endearing soft side when it comes to her youngest fans. At her show in Philadelphia Sunday night, the singer stopped her set to comfort a little girl crying in the audience.
Pink, who was in the middle of a song, noticed the distraught child, and told her guitar player to "hold on a second."
Here's the video. Like I said, it's not an earth-shattering event, just a tiny little moment of positivity awash in a sea of depressing news.
For those wondering why she would have a stuffed frog onstage, apparently frogs are her own 2-year old daughter Willow's favorite toy, and fans at Pink's shows have a tendency to toss little items onstage, including little frog toys.
Excuse me, I have a mote of dust in my eye.
I'm not a huge Pink fan or anything, but I do admit to being impressed by some of her stuff, especially her songs/videos about female empowerment and her presumably-real street-tough childhood. Here's a couple of examples:
