You see them everyday; parading down the street, rubbing our faces in their obvious disdain for the Bible and God's Holy Law. Their unrepentant hosts, smiling, preening, PROUD of throwing righteousness aside for the sake of fashion and beauty. Is it beautiful to spit in the eye of Our Lord, and break his laws, Leviticus 19:19 (http://bible.oremus.org/...) in particular, for the sake vanity and pride? I say NO.
Cotton is a beautiful thing! Linen is a beautiful thing! They drape exceptionally well. Wool? Keeps us warm in winter and holds dye in the most beautiful of shades. It is a most masculine of fabric, as is leather. I can't even begin to describe mixed polyester blends and the evil they unlock, but the beauty, and convenience they promise! But mixing these fabrics? IT'S AGAINST GOD'S LAW. If God had wanted us to mix the fabrics, he wouldn't have written a rule against it.
I am torn. When I see all of these beautiful fabrics, mixing on the streets, on the backs of my friends, on strangers, I want to mix fabrics as well. I want to be as fashionable as they are. I want to express my individuality with different textures and hues. I want to free myself of the constraints of God's Holy Word, and enjoy what these others seem to enjoy. Free myself, and smile in the sunshine of the admiring stares of strangers and friends alike.
But righteousness overwhelms me! And I can't help but feel that these strangers and friends, mixing fabrics with abandon are the devil tempting me to sin! Tempting us ALL to SIN!
It's so hard to stay true to God's word, to stay righteous, in the face of all this cultural pressure tempting me to eternal damnation.
Is it right that, in my heart, I want to enjoy mixed fabrics, but treat my friends and strangers who do, (and sin, remember) with contempt and disdain? Harangue them for their wantonness and lack of moral character? Question the layout of their closets and chide them for lack of righteousness? For leading their children into sin by CLOTHING THEM IN MIXED FABRIC! It is God's word and they are signing their children's eternal death warrant!
To have a longing to join the unrighteous, but to be filled with the righteousness of the Holy Spirit is a heavy coat to wear! Especially when it's made entirely of wool.
p.s. Please be kind. This is my first attempt at a diary.
