I was walking to work yesterday (my employment is why I haven't been as active) and I choked on my coffee because I saw a Bolt Bus. They're apparently an awesome bus service that has wifi and cheap rates. My friends tell me they're a good company. There's just one problem. Here's the bolt bus logo:
And here is the symbol of the
British Union of Fascists, the 1930's Nazi party of the UK, and the ancestor of today's British National Party:
It's a symbol used today by racists and cryptofascists, and a symbol steeped in antisemitism. Lightning was important to the Nazis as a symbol. It was used by the
Sturmabteilung, and twin lightning bolts were the symbol of the
SS.
So...
Did they piss off their graphic designer? Has anyone told them what's on the side of their buses? I'm absolutely sure this is an accident. It's just really awkward to see a symbol rolling through New York that's associated with Nazi ideology.
... Someone should probably tell them.
