Charleston, SC- Organizers of the Farebox to Ballot Box Transit Rider Voter empowerment effort will reveal the contents of the 15 thousand voter information cards they’ll be distributing regarding the SC1 Congressional Election at the Monday, April 15 meeting of the Charleston Chapter of the SC Progressive Network at 8:00 pm. The meeting will be held at the International Longshoreman’s Hall at 1142 Morrison Drive, Charleston, SC 29403.
Full information is available at www.busec.org/vote online. The public and press are welcome. The Longshoreman’s Hall is located near stops on the #10, 11, 20, 21 & 102 CARTA bus lines. Trips on the transit system can be planned online using Google Transit or the www.ridecarta.com website. If you have to drive an automobile, free parking is available.
This voter education effort is independent of CARTA and both congressional campaigns. It is supported by the Hungryneck Straphangers (Lowcountry Public Transit Rider’s Advocacy), SC Progressive Network, the Amalgamated Transit Union and the national Americans for Transit. Representatives of all four groups will speak briefly at the presentation and be available for comments afterwards.
