I was stopped by a policeman on my motor scooter today. He politely informed me that I needed to have a sticker and insurance and gave me a warning. When I got the scooter years ago this was not required, but since October of last year insurance is required for mopeds and motor scooters in Maryland.
The thing that’s amazing about this is that we adopted this law with so little interest on the part of the public and the press that I was not aware of it. It’s no big deal. Adopting insurance for guns is more complicated because it more of a new thing but it too shouldn’t be a big deal. I’m a supporter of having insurance as a sign of responsibility. I had insurance on my motor scooter anyway. And, I’ll get a sticker when the MVA is open on Monday.
Rep. Carolyn Maloney’s bill HR-1369 calls for gun insurance. I think it should be implemented with careful thought.
Motor scooters down—Guns to go.
