While national Democrats have expressed disappointment in the fact that Ashley Judd will not be running against Mitch McConnell and Kentucky Democrats wait for a big name such as Alison Lundergan Grimes to get into the race one fact rings true. We have a Democratic candidate running against Mitch McConnell in this race already. Despite not having a huge name and exciting Democrats across the country another fact rings true. The man we have running against Mitch McConnell already is not only a fine Democrat, but a fine man. While others might wait for a big name politician to enter the fray one thing I have to ask all Democrats in Kentucky and across America. What is wrong with sending one of us to Washington, a man who could understand our lives and problems because he is living among us facing them also?
I am talking about Ed Marksberry, thus far the only person, Democrat or otherwise who has had the courage to stand up and submit himself to the Mitch McConnell meat grinder. And while with Ashley Judd out of the race we will not have the Beauty vs. the Beast from Hell race we may very well have something else. The Working Man against the Man that would outsource his job to Communist China race.
Before dismissing Ed Marksberry I think we should all look inside ourselves and think about what Washington D.C. really needs to start addressing our problems. New blood. Not career politicians that constantly put the advancement of their own careers over the concerns of their constituents but real, honest Americans from among us who really care about the problems we face and would really care about working for us over the special interests that dominate the discussion and poison the waters. How will we ever have that if we do not fight for folks like that when they emerge? They cannot depend on the huge money that people like McConnell can raise from special interests so they must depend upon us.
Listening to what Ed Marksberry has to say, you can definitely see that he shares our values and has an honest understanding of what not only is wrong with Kentucky, but America:
For far too long, our nation’s capital has been overrun with career politicians who would rather raise money than do the people’s work. I made the decision to be a candidate for the United States Senate because I saw just how damaging this brand of politics can be.
Unlike many in Congress, I feel my background provides me with the independence voters are looking for from their elected officials. I’m not beholden to corporate or Wall Street money, and I know what it’s like to make ends meet in today’s struggling economy.
My goal is simple: To strengthen, support and advocate on behalf of Kentucky’s families. Unemployment is too high. We need to take into account our region’s economic advantages, not seek a one-size-fits-all, Washington-centric policy. Is it essential that we market our transportation systems, proximity to major markets, and low electrical rates both nationally and internationally to ensure a stable fiscal environment for years to come.
We believe the promise of prosperity has been stifled by the greed and inactivity of bought and paid for politicians. Empty beltway platitudes won’t put food on the table or gas in the tank.
And that’s why I’m running. Because by working together, we can put Kentucky, the nation, and the Senate back to work.

Ed has composed a song about his campaign that is actually pretty good.

So now instead of being disappointed or waiting on someone else to emerge, why don't Democrats do the right thing and put their money where their mouth is? We have a fine Democratic candidate running against Mitch McConnell in 2014. Go here and support him!!:
