New PSA Promoting Charitable Giving Event Features Idaho Celebrities
More than 340 Idaho nonprofits are already participating in the inaugural “Idaho Gives,” an unprecedented day of statewide, charitable giving taking place on May 2. Organizers expect that Idahoans will have approximately 400 organizations to choose from when they make their charitable contributions on Idaho Gives day.
“We are extremely pleased with the high levels of participation we’re seeing in communities all over Idaho,” said Lynn Hoffmann, Executive Director of the Idaho Nonprofit Center, which is presenting the event. “We have organizations spanning every category of philanthropic work—from conservation to cultural institutions and from education to human services. At the same time, people are really excited to show their civic pride and make a contribution during this day of concentrated, high-impact giving.”
The Nonprofit Center has lined up some star power to call attention to Idaho Gives. A newly released public service announcement (PSA) features various notable Idaho personalities urging Idahoans to give generously: Gov. Butch Otter and First Lady Lori Otter, NFL All-Pro and former Idaho State Bengal Jared Allen, Olympic gold medalist Kristin Armstrong, Academy Award winning actress Patty Duke, critically acclaimed author Alan Heathcock, and “The Apprentice” star/entrepreneur aand AXS CEO Troy McClain. The video can be seen here:
Idaho Gives is modeled after highly successful giving days in other states and cities. The event mostly takes place online, driven by a central idahogives.org web site, where donors can learn about and designate funds for nonprofits in a variety of categories. Corporate and individual donors have contributed additional money for a pool of award funds, which will be distributed to nonprofits through random drawings and daylong contests, allowing organizations and donors to multiply their donations.
With the nonprofit registration deadline drawing near (this Thursday), the Nonprofit Center is urging any nonprofit with an IRS-certified 501(c)(3) designation to get registered at www.idahogives.org. Idaho Gives allow nonprofits to elevate their profile, expand their online and social media presence, call attention to the work they’re doing, and raise critical funds.
Idaho Gives is sponsored by St. Luke’s Idaho Health System and Idaho Central Credit Union. For more information, go to www.idahogives.org, or look for Idaho Gives on Facebook and Twitter.
