The Daily Bucket is a regular feature of the Backyard Science group. It is a place to note any observations you have made of the world around you. Snails, fish, insects, weather, meteorites, climate, birds and/or flowers. All are worthy additions to the bucket. Please let us know what is going on around you in a comment. Include, as close as is comfortable for you, where you are located.
There is a color scheme that is very common in the early spring wildflowers here on the NE corner of the Olympic Peninsula of WA. I was struck by the number of white flowers during my walk in the woods yesterday.
Sorrel (Oxalis oregana)
Western Trilium (Trillium ovatum)
Flower of Madrone (Arbutus menziesii)
False Solomon's seal (Maianthemum racemosum)
Elderberry (Sambucus racemosa)
Bitter cherry (Prunus emarginata)
What tree is this?
These photos were all taken either in my woods or on my walk in Fort Townsend state park.
Of course, there are exceptions to white. The Calypso orchids are purple/pink. The Oregon grape and Skunk cabbage are blooming yellow right now.
