First it was the Insider trading law that was passed and then quietly repealed.
Now, Congress is seeking its way out of having to join the Health Care exchanges because it would cost them too much money.
Here is an example:
Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.) said if OPM decides that the federal government doesn't pick up “the 75 percent (That’s us Taxpayers) that they have been, then put yourself in the position of a lot of entry-level staff people who make $25,000 a year, and all of a sudden, they have a $7,000 a year health care tab? That would be devastating.”

Hey what about that subsidy we all were promised for the last four years. Hmm, either this guy is stupid , which of course is more or less the default setting for most of them. The more cynical of us might assume that any of the good parts of the Health Care bill, like Subsidies for people just like that Junior staff member, have already died a backroom death that we haven't heard about yet. You really couldn't go wrong taking either bet these days.
The excuse is used that it would cause a brain drain as aids and congress people moved on to the private sector for far more lucrative pay and benefits because they certainly are not going to allow themselves to be put in the unthinkable position of actually experiencing any of the new laws they pass…
How much will people take before realizing that our political system has been totally corrupted to the point where it can't be fixed?
May your favorite Deity forbid they should have to experience the things that we experience in the real world. Why should they have to go through the extra expense of paying for Obamacare and not be bound by those crazy insider trading laws that got one prominent Hedge Fund manager 11 (or 14) Years in the Federal Prison system.
Apparently the policies that they pass should never apply to them. The laws they make shouldn't be obeyed by them. No pay cuts for congress or congressional staff either.
1. We have a Congress that won't obey the very same laws that would put us in prison.
2. We have a DOJ that now operates a two tier system of Justice that keeps the privatized prison systems brimming with profit-making-prisoners but lets the real criminals, the Shivas (destroyers of worlds) from seeing the inside of a courtroom.
3. We have a Judicial Branch that gets "active" when laws affect corporations negatively, yet sees no conflict when they pass judgement on a someone shoplifting food . Send them to prison.
4. We have an Executive Branch that effortlessly sweeps aside constitutional protections with letters that are starting to make the infamous Bush era Lawyers look like real officers of the court.
Electing more and better Democrats has yielded one , possibly two Democrats that think their constituents are worth the trouble to stand up to the status quo.
What is the status quo these days? "Thar' is still plenty of Blood we can squeeze out of them working class heroes yet". Let the squeezing continue.
By the way , this isn't going to get better with little changes here and there over the next 30-40 years. So people who insist on the very worst Govt for the people, by the corporations, please stand down from your apologies and excuses. If you are apologizing for any of this, you are part of the problem.
