Yes, but it also comes down to who is doing the choosing and how serious they really are about leaving a better world for the generations to follow?
Former State Department Official Convinced Keystone XL Will Be Approved
by Meg Handley, usnews.com -- April 25, 201
Canada's natural resources minister, Joe Oliver, was in Washington, D.C. this week to convince American policymakers and the public to approve of the controversial Keystone XL pipeline.
Oliver's visit is just the latest in a string of lobbying efforts by Canadian officials -- including Alberta's premier Alison Redford who spoke at a D.C. think-tank event earlier this month -- aimed at addressing criticism of the 1,179-mile, $7 billion project that would bring heavy crude oil from Canada's oil sands region to U.S. refineries in the Gulf of Mexico.
"Ultimately, this comes down to a choice: the U.S. can choose Canada, a friend, neighbor and ally, as its source of oil imports," Oliver said in a speech according to the AFP. "Or it can choose to continue to import oil from less-friendly, less-stable countries with weaker or perhaps no environmental standards."

Yes but why is it always a
Hobson's Choice?
... a free choice in which only one option is offered.
As Oliver puts it in the next clip, what will it be America:
Dirty Oil from over there (Venuzula, hiss!); Or even more Dirty Oil from over here (Canada, your friendly neighbor) ???
That decision is ours, America.
Here is the Hobson guy giving us our worse and worser options, Canada's Natural Resources Minister, Joe Oliver about to start his USA Charm Offensive, earlier this week ...

... with an emphasis on "Oliver Offensive."
Why is it these promoters of insane profit-centers -- always have such a disdain for respectable Climate Scientists?
Could it be because it hurts their profit-centers -- if they actually had to pay the hidden costs of the carbon -- the Climate Chaos costs that they are quietly passing on to future generations?
Shhh, it's a secret. Those future generations will never find out how much money we (Big Oil) skimmed off their quality of life. And if they do what are they going to do -- Sue us? On what grounds -- Making TOO much Money?
Hah! the Joke's on them -- those future generations. They'll never know the road we have chosen for them, today ... and how we spent their legacy, TODAY. In this age of boundless greed, where anything goes ... an age where corporate consequences are never tallied ...
Or more to the point the Joke's on all of us.
390 + 150 = Keystone XL = Game Over.
Of course that's the dilemma:
Keep going the way we're going -- we all lose.
Or take a stand and say Enough, it's time for new direction -- and those Oil profit-centers lose.
"Ultimately, it comes down to a Choice ..." Joe Oliver was right, about that.
Are we going to stay on the road were on -- which seals our 540 fate?
Or are we going to choose another road -- one which promotes and invests in renewable energy -- by not letting the behemoths of the last century continue to have their insanely profitable free-ride?
Because in reality it is us, and our children, and theirs, who are being taken for a ride, a ride with untold future costs, on a road we (and they) would not haven chosen.
If we were in actuality, given a choice.
A choice not designed by Hobson, himself.
