I wasn't going to diary these photos, but it is raining today so there isn't anything else to do...
I've never seen a Bluebird in a Bluebird box. All I ever see is Tree Swallows...
Sunday April 28th, 2013. After a beautiful sunny morning it clouded over in the afternoon. I took a drive down to Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge to see what was going on.
It turns out not much...
Lots of Red-winged Blackbirds though.
Just one Pied-billed Grebe.
An Osprey was circling for a while, didn't see a stoop.
The only Heron I saw was very far out.
Blue-winged Teal, again so far out I couldn't identify them till I got home.
Northern Shoveler, they aren't in breeding colors yet, the head hasn't turned green and the flank is still dull.
There are always Mallards and Canada Geese present...
I didn't stay at Montezuma Audubon very long. The overcast was starting to get deeper, it was getting late, and it was very windy...
I did get a few pictures of the Purple Martins though.
Female
Male, dark bird against a grey sky...
