Read today , on a conservative blog, of all places, that anti Christian proponent Mikey Weinstein was teaming up with the Pentagon to get all those bad guys who are eagerly proselytizing The Christian faith to natives of Afghanistan and to each other. The article, of course was framed in such a way so that it asserted The Obama administration, under orders from The POTUS himself, was making sure the Christian beliefs of US Soldiers were squelched under penalty of court martial... Truth is, the practice that disallowed religious proselytizing of any kind went back before this current administration... But that does not stop the whacky right who blame all their woes on The President... Also, to inflame the fires even more, the FOX NEWS, BREITBART inspired mythos was fed by the fact that the C.O. confiscated the Bibles intended to be give to the citizen of the country were and promptly Burned them... That fact may be bullshit--- but if it is trued, then the CO is as idiotic as Weinstein... All of it is partial truth propaganda that takes one incident and turns it into something else (Well, remember 911? Afghanistan kills our people, we go into IRAQ?) And here's Fox news reporting the parts that can be slanted against everything they hate (*Black president, Muslim, critical thinking, *...)

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

Bibles in Afghanistan, the CO did exactly the right thing by burning them.  These are MUSLIMS, folks.  We don't need to piss them off any more than they already are.

Of all the preposterous assumptions of humanity over humanity, nothing exceeds most of the criticisms made on the habits of the poor by the well-housed, well-warmed, and well-fed. --Herman Melville

we both don't know what the exact scenario is but I think the CO should have sent them back..... Burning them inflames the Christians so that it gets misrepresented in the press as it is now -- and YES, keeping them would have inflamed the Muslims... Burning them was probably over reacting... Unless there was no other way to get rid of them right away ... But I'm not in favor of book burning of ANY kind.

    I know this

A whole lot of folks are reading Weinstein's recent essay and they believe the Bretibart take on it. I posted a a diary lst night when my FB feed went crazy with it.

“Texas is a so-called red state, but you’ve got 10 million Democrats here in Texas. And …, there are a whole lot of people here in Texas who need us, and who need us to fight for them.” President Obama

Afghanistan did not kill our children---Al Qaeda did.  Afghanistan did not plan it, finance it, or help carry it out, and they found out about it the same time we did--by seeing it on TV.

isn't anti-Christian and he's far from idiotic. I call him heroic.

He sees the influence that rabid, anti-Muslim, anti-gay, Christianist groups have on the military. Groups that the SPLC has identified as hate groups. And he's angry at that. It's only the American taliban that is his target.

    •  He did let loose one hellacious rant though (4+ / 0-)

It was a beautious thing to behold ...

If these fundamentalist Christian monsters of human degradation, marginalization, humiliation and tyranny cannot broker or barter your acceptance of their putrid theology, then they crave for your universal silence in the face of their rapacious reign of theocratic terror. Indeed, they ceaselessly lust, ache, and pine for you to do absolutely nothing to thwart their oppression. Comply, my friends, and you, too, become as monstrously savage as are they. I beg you, do not feed these hideous monsters with your stoic lethargy, callousness and neutrality. Do not lubricate the path of their racism, bigotry, and prejudice. Doing so directly threatens the national security of our beautiful nation.
People who want to rule the world by military force so they can invoke authoritarian control pretty much deserve to be called hideous monsters. People who intentionally are trying to stir up war in the middle east to hasten the return of Jesus are, indeed, monsters.

Bravo for Mikey for telling it like it is. I suspect his choice of language was intended to inflame, to bait them, and to make the issue come to a head. After decades of them working under cover of ignorance, it is good to see this exposure, just like with ALEC. MRFF site

It was the best course of action. Nothing good comes from prostelitizing and by doing so those solders endangered others for their own agenda.
