This Letter to the Editor was published in the Tallahassee Democrat Wednesday. While being a well-written piece, it's incredibly stupid, a good example of the mindset that has settled into the rightwing and made it hard to reason with them. There is nothing one could say to this woman that would shift her atrophied thoughts. I imagine that if she were to go past Bush vs Obama on to the subjects of climate change, gun control, Wall St. banks, etc., we'd find the same lockdown mentality.
So letter writer Jane Dallet believes the mainstream media is “right-leaning” and was favorable to George Bush? From the day Bush was elected, he was blamed by the mainstream media (and Obama, too) for practically every negative thing that happened to this country. We have watched the liberal media outright protect, and even lie, for President Obama over numerous issues and scandals in his administration, usually just opting not to report them at all.
From the Gulf oil spill, suing Arizona, his dishonesty about Obamacare and the economy, cooking the books on the unemployment numbers every month, to covering up Fast & Furious, lying about Benghazi, manipulating the Newtown, Conn. families for political gain, violating our constitutional rights and refusing to report the still-present hardships of the Hurricane Sandy survivors (Katrina anyone?), Obama has been given a virtual pass by the media on his entire presidency while Bush was eviscerated at every turn. No one can even offer an intelligent criticism of Obama without being branded a racist by the media.
By the way, our soldiers in Afghanistan are being killed at a rate four times more under Obama, due to his military cuts of vital weapons systems and equipment for our troops in the field.
If Dallet wants to know about Bush, I would suggest actually researching him instead of allowing the mainstream media to form her opinion of him for her.
