Yesterday, when I heard Darrel Issa say that there's a difference between an "Act of Terror" and a "Terrorist Act" I chuckled to myself, thinking, What bullshit, but not unexpected from the Senate's self-appointed Javert. Then, today, listening to Kagro in the Morning, I learned that Glenn Kessler, the WaPo's "fact checker" agrees with Issa!
Kessler has either decided to engage in performance art parody of fact checking, or has descended to a level way below the Onion.
Apparently, because on other occasions, the President did not call it "terrorism" that makes his saying he did call it an "act of terror" worthy of "Four Pinocchios.
Kessler even engages in mind reading to find the President "lied."
Perhaps Obama, in his mind, thought this then was really “an act of war,” not a traditional terrorist attack, but he had not wanted to say that publicly. Or perhaps, as Republicans suggest, he did not want to spoil his campaign theme that terror groups such as al-Qaeda were on the run by conceding a terrorist attack had occurred on the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.
The mind reels.
