Quote from John Batchelor
http://johnbatchelorshow.com/...

"Additional: Ping Fu's careful recounting of her recollections of life during Mao's Cultural Revolution has brought down on her head the wrath of current Chinese Communist Party hacks, who pay digital hirelings the rough equivalent of fifty cents a post to write pedestrian criticisms and flood American readers and publishers with clearly nonfactual complaints. The acrimony of the PRC bureaucrats suggests that Ping Fu has hit a nail on the head. "
American citizen taking foreign government money to hack American system and attack American citizen, especially advisor of current President?

That constitutes treason!

John Batchelor, Do you know what you are saying? Do you mean what you are saying?

It is just criticisms, negative reviews, just critics equipped with facts. Why do you need to frame them and tie them to a foreign government?

That is exactly what happened during Cultural Revolution!

During the Cultural Revolution, if you dared to criticize the government, you would be labeled anti-revolutionary, if you ever had any tie to foreign country, you would be marked as a spy.

How ironic! This is exactly Cultural Revolution style persecution!

What no longer happens in China today is actually happening here in the US!

John Batchelor, you are not only talking about Cultural Revolution, you are practicing Cultural Revolution in the US!

pedestrian criticisms ... clearly nonfactual complaints
1. Multiple individual FOIA requests had confirmed, with official response from PD of Albuquerque, New Mexico, that there was no record of any incident relates to Ping Fu during that responsible period of time. Either you accept that Ping Fu's kidnapping claim is false, or you are accusing the police of incompetence or negligence of duty.

2. In her Memoir Bend, Not Break, in the very first paragraph, Ping Fu claimed to have to choose either be expelled to US or be sent to remote area in China.

Please tell us:
a. Why would the government, any government for that matter, send its citizen to other country as punishment?
b. Why would the alleged criminal be given two opposite choices, one being punished in remote areas, one being set free and live in a more advanced free world?

It defies reality and logic, you actually believed it? Would any school in the US discipline a student by sending the student to Disneyland?

This is Ping Fu's words against her own words, in print, can you deny it?

...current Chinese Communist Party hacks, who pay digital hirelings...equivalent of fifty cents...
This is your claim, is it fact?

1. How do you know it is from Chinese government? You even knew the amount of money paid? Where is your basic journalist principle? Are you told to say this or are you paid to say this? Show us the evidence!

2. If Chinese government were behind this.

a. Why wouldn't Chinese government directly (or assist the hirelings to) expose Ping Fu's school record to denounce her academic claim?

b. Why wouldn't Chinese government directly (or assist the hirelings to ) clarify that Ping Fu was never deported or expelled?

c. Why would Chinese government choose the most inefficient way to pay hirelings to post in limited forums for months (instead of using its powerful propaganda machine)?

d. Why would Chinese government allow Ping Fu to publish her memoir in China in 1996?

e. Why would Chinese government honor Ping Fu in its official propaganda machine China Daily?

Is that what a deportee could do? Is that what a government does to its deportee?

Factual or nonfactual, please inform your listeners of the discussions in Forbes.com and Amazon.com.

Truth will prevail, get your listeners well informed, let them make their own judgement.

John Batchelor, since you already have solid evidence (you even knew the pay rate) to prove there are foreign agents or American citizen working for foreign government, please point them out, assist the law enforcement to bring the perpetrators to justice!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

Look, I know there's been a lot of writing on this issue on this site (for reasons I don't quite understand), but this is one of the nuttiest I've seen.

American citizen taking foreign government money to hack American system and attack American citizen, especially advisor of current President?

    That constitutes treason!

    NEEDS MOAR CAPS!

(It's unethical if true, but it's not hacking, and it's definitely not treason.)

It might defy logic, but it happens in reality.  How do you think Solzhenitsyn ended up in Germany?  He didn't fly there of his own accord: he was forcibly deported and stripped of his citizenship.

It's really possible to critique Batchelor's claims without taking us on a train ride through Crazytown.  Might be worth deleting this and starting over.

… this diary is about, even after reading it. Of course part of the problem is that the name John Batchelor elicits from me the response popularized on DK by JeffW: "John who™?"

in the diary is Ping Fu, who wrote a book that has become controversial among Chinese and Chinese-Americans. as pico noted, another kossack has diaried this at enormous length; at least that person can write clearly.

        •  It is about her supporters (0+ / 0-)

You don't have to share the same with critics, but you've got to be objective and sincere, have to make statements with facts.

Without those supporters and defenders who ignore the facts but shot out slogans and name calling, Ping Fu's fabricated story could not last that long.

Ping Fu has been the center of this, there are well written diaries, posts, reviews about her, her book and interview, so I do not need to elaborate or repeat here. Though the reader needs those knowledge to understand what  I am talking about and why I am talking about it.

What I am looking for is the answer, either from Ping Fu or from her supporters, the answer to those obvious questions.

I hope the readers here can help me get those answers.

One of them being: Why there was no journalist due diligence fact checking, why instead help spread the lies and suppress the critics.

In this John's case: why this radio host is framing the critics.

        if you like.

I am afraid this diary requires some knowledge about what has been going on with Ping Fu's book and interview. If you are still interested please read more about it and share your opinion here.

Thank you for coming. Appreciate it.

    •  It is treason if John and Ping's claim was true (0+ / 0-)

      Hi pico,

      1. I know it is not true, you can see I am one of the critics. But That has been what Ping Fu and her supporters claimed, even used the term terrorists,  now John is announcing it in his radio show.

Most of the critics are Americans (largely ethnic Chinese I believe, because we are the ones who experienced the same dark time and we know what it was), if we, any of us, are paid to hack and attack an US citizen, (Ping Fu claims to be the current President's advisor, she claims that her computer was hacked, Amazon system was hacked...), by definition that is treason.

Will anyone be charged of that in this regard? I do not think so, because that needs evidence, they do not have it, because it is false claim.

My word is harsh because I am challenging the authenticity of his claim and also challenging his objectivity and credibility.

Thank you pico for being the first responder :)
I will address your second point later.

      •  The frame you pasted said "hacks" not (1+ / 0-)

"hackers".  There is a difference.  Being a "hacker" is to engage in activity that is usually illegal.

However, merely being a "hack" is simply a dismissive term used in this case to mean Chinese Party officials who are driven by desire to do anything to win and discredit rather than because of conviction or fact, and doing so by allegedly paying others to write mean and critical things about Ping Fu to discredit her and her book.  Being a political party hack or being paid by a political party hack to publicly write mean things on blogs about someone else is not treason in the US, it's commerce.

So your point about "treason" is, in my view, overblown, and detracts from the serious issue of Ping Fu's apparently false, unsupportable, and refutable claims.

I do not think this diary does a good job of explaining the controversy about Ping Fu and her book, and merely confuses and sidetracks that issue.   Sorry.

    •  Was "Solzhenitsyn" welcomed back? (0+ / 0-)

Was he honored by the same one who sent him to another country?
Was he escorted by family members instead of law enforcement when being deported?
Was he given choice of either be punished or set free and live in a better country?

      This is what defied logic.

Deportation defies reality, Chinese government simply did not do that.
