I was ambivalent when Mayor Bloomberg tried to end the Big Gulp.
But now that his attempt has failed, Coca Cola is introducing
new mega cans of their addictive syrupy s*t.
I've been a 2-Coke a day addict since my deep south
childhood. Coke with grits and eggs was our family traditional
breakfast (I'm ashamed to say).
And now, a day without a Coke literally gives me the shakes.
I have gone as long as a year without one, but ultimately, like heroine,
it sucks me back.
This time, I won't be back.
This time, corporate greed has done me a colossal favor.
It strikes me as particularly outrageous in the wake of recent warnings
about the health dangers of soda. Drinking one NORMAL coke is like
eating a stack of 16 sugar cubes.
I walked into our Duane Reed after leaving work, as always . . . to get
a Coke, and was confronted by a wall of . . . Jesus, they looked like
quart cans. Hugely discounted, to get the addiction going.
Bloomberg must've gotten the heads-up about this when
he tried to ban over-sized pop from NYC.
In retrospect, it's a shame that even the liberals turned on him.
Especially, considering all of the obesity and diabetes that will result.

But personally, as I mentioned, it is a positive to have an incentive to
eliminate Coke from my life once and for all.
Tip for soda addicts: Cold spring water & a splash of Pom is delicious.
