really? really. to phrase it that way is belittling. okay. alright.
then what about this: gjohnsit has a post up titled Tom Harkin introduces Glass-Steagall bill and he said it probably won't pass in the Senate. he further stated that we needed to pressure the Senate. does anyone think americans can be bothered with this?
but BUT but... jackpot, right guys??? cause we have GOP scandal-mongering making Obama more popular, GOP most unpopular in CNN polling history... so anybody? do you think Obama and the Dems will find a way to use this leverage to rein in the banks and get that Glass Steagall passed? does anybody think they'll use that leverage to help Liz with her student loans thingee? i guess americans can't be bothered to have expectations about these things, either.
anybody want to take bets on how these bills will go down with a whimper? any-gosh-darned-body? nah. we don't care.
does anybody think it might be a better strategy to stay skeptical, make some tough demands and loudly voice that we want this leverage used to stop banks, to keep social security secure, to end to the war on terror, and end privatized prisons and the closing of public schools. again, i'm sure we americans just can't be bothered.
and damn it, we certainly don't care if journalists or, for that matter, the rest of us Americans are wire tapped or spied on.
what... am I stupid or something? The American people can't be bothered to care that some reporters were spied on... . really?
