I've heard from several sources including NPR this morning that Social Security Disability benefits will be cut by 21% in 2016. Medicare will be cut by 13% in 2026, and Social Security will be cut by 25% in 2033.
I'm absolutely outraged. Statements in the news this week have been that stark. Benefits will be cut. It is true that on NPR they said that BENEFITS WILL BE CUT ... (or revenue could be raised). What happened to our Social Contract?
See, I always thought that these were entitlements. Social Security is a social contract with defined benefits, and I'm absolutely livid that the entire mass media has bought into the tee party platform that puts contrived budget limitations before morality.
It's looking a lot like Social Security Disability is about to turn into the Sequester on steroids. The idea that we'd let that happen is outrageous.
Either I'm just being paranoid, or we've got a huge problem. Instead of hearing all about how we've got to fix Social Security, what people are hearing is Benefits will be CUT. Problem is that nobody seems to think that anything can be fixed. So Benefits will be cut.
