The Left Forum 2013 is being held on June 7 - 9 at Pace University in NYC. More than 350 panels, workshops & events are scheduled for this conference whose theme this year is: Mobilizing for Ecological / Economic Transformation. It’s $65 to attend all three days and speakers include: Noam Chomsky, Jill Stein, Medea Benjamin, etc. A full program guide (pdf) can be found here: http://www.leftforum.org/...
I found out about this conference through a friend of mine, Stephanie McMillan, who is a panelist at the forum. Search under panel topics + name
Stephanie is one of the founders / organizers of an 'anti-capitalist' group called One Struggle (based in Fort Lauderdale; with a chapter in NYC). The group tries to raise funds for various activities (ie. publishing a newspaper) by holding Open Mike nights, etc. I had written about one of their fundraising events in a Dailykos diary: South Florida Activism: One Struggle Fundraising Events.
A political / environmental activist & cartoonist Stephanie’s latest book: The Beginning of the American Fall: A Comics-Journalist inside the OWS Movement is insightful, poignant & at times very funny. Stephanie will also be attending a book signing event at the Blue Stockings Bookstore (172 Allen St, NYC) on Saturday, June 8, 2013 @ 8PM. See: http://bluestockings.com/... The title of her talk will be: "Capitalism Must Die".
Hope to see some of you at the Left Forum Conference / Blue Stockings Bookstore events.
